A boolean is a value with two states. We think a shortlist should work the same way: every candidate on it has met the standard the role requires, and nobody is there to make up the numbers.
Why we started
Boolean Group was founded by two technology professionals who have spent their careers on the delivery side of software: building test automation frameworks, working on APIs and Python tooling, running CI/CD pipelines and working alongside engineering teams in enterprise environments.
From that side of the table, we saw how much hiring depends on a CV and a short conversation. Good engineers were undersold because nobody had understood what they had actually done. Hiring managers spent hours interviewing people that a better first assessment would have ruled out.
So we built a recruitment firm around that missing step: assessing the work before making the introduction, and writing down what we found.
Where we are now
We are a small firm, based in Suffolk and working with employers and candidates across the UK. We started in quality engineering and test automation and now recruit across the whole technology function, from software and cloud to data, security, product and IT.
The way we work has stayed the same as we have grown: understand the role properly, assess against it, and write down what we found.
How we work
- We would rather send two strong candidates than ten possible ones.
- We say what we did not assess, as well as what we did.
- Candidates are never put forward without their agreement.
- We reply to every enquiry, and we tell people where they stand.
